Abstract
1. Building LibreOffice Korean Community In 2017, I visited Taiwan’s FLOSS Conference, COSCUP(Conference for Open Source Coders, Users, and Promoters) as the Korean FLOSS Contributor. When I attend COSCUP, I met TDF board member, Italo Vignoli, Taiwan’s TDF members, and Japanese TDF members. When I watched, the TDF board member, Italo vignoli’s presentation, I had a strong impression in his presentation. As a result, I'm building LibreOffice Korean Community. I'm talking about my experience of starting a source code contribution[fix Korean Hangul/Hanja dictionary’s bug] and running a community from 2017 to now(2020). This year, I participate as a contribution mentor for the NIPA's contribution event with NIPA[National IT Industry Promotion Agency, IT Industry promotion organization by the Republic of Korea] cooperation. (The event teaches students and the public how to participate in open source activities.) With the help of NIPA, I will participate as a mentor for LibreOffice Korean language contribution and share how to promote LibreOffice in Korea. 2. CJK's common issues and differences LibreOffice is mainly developed by Western European language speakers. So, the CJK issue of LibreOffice is caused by developers who don't understand CJK languages. East Asian cultural sphere, East Asian Countries uses Ideographs(漢字/汉字, Chinese Characters, Mandarin Chinese: hànzì, Japanese: かんじ kanji, Korean: 한자 hanja). But, Each country and region, Ideographs glyph shape is different in East Asia. Also, some ideographs meaning and sounds are also different. Also, The numeric expressions in Korea, China, and Japan are sometimes similar and different. I will show some common consistency and differences issues between CJK(Korea, China, and Japan) and talk about how to handle and cooperate in LibreOffice. I found some bugs and fixed CJK issues on LibreOffice. I deal with CJK common issues and differences, such as numeric expressions in Korean & Japanese, and don't distinguish both Korean and Japanese fonts from all CJK[Chinese, Japanese and Korean] fonts(such as the Noto CJK font series and Source Han series, etc.), and so on. Because Both Google's Noto CJK font series and Source Han font series is the first open-source "pan CJK(Chinese, Japanese, Korean) typeface, It is not possible to distinguish CJK fonts from the existing Libre office source code. Also, This talk shows the difference of Ideographs in East Asia, such as Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea, Japan.

Transkript: Englisch(automatisch erzeugt)
Sorry, can you listen to my sound? Yes, it's okay. Sorry. No problem. Sorry. Now, I'll start with my presentation, building developers' Korean community and CJK's common and different issues.
How do I use, contribute, and promote developers in Korea for three years? My name is Daewon Sung, and let me introduce myself. My name is Daewon Sung, and Korea Hangul Hanja in Katakana lane. I'm a developer's Korean team founder member and the document foundation member.
And my activity is Korean community management and create and improve some Korean features on developer's office. I started five categories. One is Korean language, briefly speaks the Korean language, and the second is building
developer's Korean community and CJK's common and different issues. And last, North Korea office suite. So when I found this North Korea office suite, I introduced my future works.
And Korean language. This is a Korean peninsula map and in East, North-East Asia, Asia in between the peninsula between China, mainly China, and Russia, and Japan.
And this is Korea, Korea direct maps and Korean, many of Korean live in South and North-East China and Russia. Also, some Korean people live in Japan, and Korean is the language spoken in the Korean
peninsula of North-East Asia. It is spoken by about 77 million people. This is the official and the national language of both Koreas, North and South. And Korean language, unified name is, okay, unified name is Urimal or Keremal.
And South Korea, in South Korea, say the Hangul or Hangul, and North Korea and China,
in China, China say the Joseon war, and Russia and the CIA say the Korean war. And then building developer's Korean community. And when I use the Linux Ruby, 16 years ago, when I first started Linux,
many of the Korean people looked up Korean Linux document on KDPs. KDP, Korean name is Hangul or Linux project site.
Currently, it is rarely used by users. And 14 years ago, I found the Korean thread problem, thread on KDP, phone to thread, phone to a problem. The problem, Hangul is printed from Google phone instead of Hunter.
Some Korean developers ignore Hunter issues. One Korean developer made Hunter problem point. The developer insists that Hunter is not Korean language and sends Hunter to Korean Hunter sound.
Example is here. This is from Korean sound Hunter and then offered us. This is example of this. Example of this, offered that the character is changed originally in Hunter,
but changed the Hunter sound. This problem is ideal groups and Korean Hunter sound cannot be wrapped one to one. For example, in Korea, there is a problem that character cannot be properly expressed.
Oh, okay. When Chinese and Japanese string appear,
and 2016, Korean Open Source developer has already developed an open source library, but one member copied the HWP open source library,
and he realized that he developed the HWP library himself, and developed the open source library. As a result, HWP open source library has closed and destroyed.
So I found some problem on open source project in Korea, and after finishing service at university and working at company,
I tried to contribute to some use of projects, and also I attended the KD Korea event, the KD 20 event, travel party, birthday party. At that time, I contributed to Gudrun Gudcharm app,
using Unicode Consortium's linear database. After contributing to Gudcharm app, I contributed to Gudrun characters and KD character select. So this is my contribution to Gudrun Gudcharm app,
and add selected Chinese character, and I show the Korean Hunter sound and the BNS pronunciation for ideal groups, same Chinese character.
This is it, and this is a common link, and this is the example of pictures, and also contribute to selected Korean Hangul syllable, and selected syllable, and the composite Korea Hangul demo,
and also create the composite Korean Hangul syllable, and create the composite Hangul syllable to move to Hangul demo.
This is example coming over, and also contribute to KD character select, also same pictures. This is coming over, and also I contribute to the Korean info method library,
the Hangul add 158 characters in the list of Hunter. This is the example of this. When I contributed to some open source, free library open source software,
and Gudrun, and KD, and Deepangal, and Jinyu Lipstream, I'm curious about the development of ideal groups processing in East Asia languages, such as Korean, Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese. So I have participated in a variety of free library open source software conference
in East Asia regions, such as Japan, mainland China, and Taiwan. In 2017, I attended Costco,
and at that time, I met TDF members such as Italo Bigroni, and Frank Limon, and Zhang Jia-chung, and Jeff Wang on Costco 2017 in Taipei, Taiwan.
Costco is a conference for open source coders, users, and promoters. Promoter is an annual conference held by Taiwanese open source communities. I attended Italo Bigroni's presentation,
and moreover, I met several Japanese members at that time. This is an example of a feature, and Italo Bigroni prepared to speak to the presentation, and Frank Limon introduced it to Italo Bigroni's presentation.
After Costco 2017, I joined LibreOffice CJK Telegram by Jeff Wang, one of TDF Taeyang members, and at that time, I participated in LibreOffice.
And last year, in 2018 and 2019, I committed my first commit on LibreOffice,
and collaborated with Italo and the Asia community, and became a TDF member and interviewer, and attended the Korean OSS community. My first commit in LibreOffice, first commit is to edit and fix the missing Korean hunter sound.
This is before and after pictures. OpenOffice and the former LibreOffice system, I found the bug Korean hunter sound sound is empty, but now I fixed the Korean hunter sound sound list,
yeah, empty and show the list. And I contributed some Korean pictures on LibreOffice, and I break loose in Korean, and add Korean Dangi era pictures, and fixed the work, Korean Ruby script,
and many other things. And below is my contribution link in LibreOffice, increase the link and shows my contributions.
And last year and this year, and this year coming is many of things. Two years ago, I watched the KD Academy keynote, and then Billy Patterson,
Billy Patterson's keynote title is mapping crimes against humanity in North Korea with FOSS. This conference link is here, keynote link is here. He describes his North Korean human rights NGO,
in Korean name is Jeonangi Jeonji Working Group, and English is traditional justice working group. Working and using free and open source software and data. He added that using free open source software in Korea in a change for prisoners,
Korean info, font, banking, online transaction, in addition, hunger world processor, that is WP5. In Korea, MS world is second, first popular world processor is SWP, hunger world processor.
And I attended, two years ago, I attended the developers Asia community, so we are in Taiwan, and this is the link, link blog link, TDF blog link, and below is
Taiwanese blog link, and then last year, I attended first time developers Asia conference, first time in Tokyo, and I attended the conference,
and at that time, I contributed some features, and I summarized this link, and last year I became a TDF member,
and interviewed TDF members, and the interview article posted the blog, and last year, I attended the Korean open source community,
and technical document to translate the conference in Seoul, Korea. I met a Python top tier foundation fellow, He said that he used LibreOffice writer on Linux to translate English into Korean books and tests.
And this is example of pictures and slides. But he said, don't save ODF, only use MS word files. And in this year, due to the spread of COVID-19,
it's difficult to open the villa. Collaboration is developers Asia community, and despite the serious difficulties, I have promoted the LibreOffice Korean community, and the books, and the worldwide LibreOffice Korean features.
Collaboration with the Japanese team, and what can I do for LibreOffice homepage? I already contributed to it last year, but I have to contribute to the homepage translation,
translation with Yogata Jun. This is a picture. And collaboration with the Indonesian contributor to US, and I found the books, and she also in Korea, Korea uses this, but Indonesian contributes to use this,
so please fix it, please. And then, thanks to the Indonesian contributors. And I found a Chinese numeral expression on LibreOffice CAC,
and I found, I submitted the BOGJI LA report, and Korea hands out for a number, five and 100 are known, and another thing is also found both on Korean and Japanese,
so CAC's both Korean and Japanese contributors, we do it, and contribute to this, and submit the approved phone calls. Example is here, people are fixing the issues, and Korea and Japan,
Japan's Chinese numeral expression is, notation is error, bold, but fixed it is Korean, changed the five, upper number five, changed it, and then, that we go,
and we fix the Chinese numeral, Korean and numeral, with Korean and Japanese, so fix it. And, I contribute to changing lotus, lotus CJK font, language notation for CJK users, and common increase here,
and originally, Korea and Japan, don't use, don't use all the Chinese character symbols, and changed Korea hunger, and Japanese ryongo, and this is example of pictures,
and also, I improved the CJK font language notation for CJK users, so, I added the support for CJK font, and as such, the source CJK font, and the bandwidth, CJK font,
Hiragino Sans, and the issue, discuss the, discuss the, discuss, ask, develop the Japanese site, and fix the, source handsense, ACC, and SCC, and TC,
and, Hiragino Sans, traditional Chinese, and simplified Chinese, changed it, and, I attended, I participated in NIPAS event, contributor, the annual event for contributors, and operates, operated by NIPA,
and NIPA is Korea's, national IT industry promotion agency, sponsor is, Microsoft Korea, Line, CoCo, Naval, SK Telecom, and Korea's companies, and the contributor is, coined word between,
contributor, and volatile, hackathon event with, developers, contributor, and beginners, for, six weeks, in this, this year's event videos is, August 1 to September 16. Company is here, and, I met some, mentees, mentees,
university students, and, some, work, company workers, and, contribute to, the office features, and translate, and submit the, both, both, report. Yeah. Okay. NIPA event,
this is a picture, and, and, in the event, contribution, contributors, contributions is, register the, Korean wicked, translations, and, software translation, and, improve Korean pictures. This is the link, and, auto, correct list,
this, unique, yeah, unit test, to, code, and special conditionally add, but, spread, this event is, easily spread, open source software, for, for beginners, during the event,
support, support for, build up, and event, at agency, but, tight schedule, short time, at agency, those, MS office, OSM format, D-O-C, and, S-W-P format, after event, participate, those,
to, participate in, contribution, and, also, the agency, the, S-W-P, or, D-O-C file, not using PDF files, it's a topic, this is example of, one of, contributor on mentor.
So, future work is, to, promote, audio profile, format, improve, developers for users, how to continuously, operation for communities, consider, consider how to continuously, operation for communities, and, try to increase the community participation,
and improve the community, motivation. I, I made a, I made a repository, for, for H PAYoiscial class 2020, and during October, October, in this year, I, I've promote, I have promote this repository,
and I'll, I'll find the event results, to develop this core repository. And this is example of features, and, C-J-K-E, and PIO-Glob 2, PIO-glob 2, and the variety PIO-glob 2, PIO-glob 2 and PIO-glob 2, and the Rising Agent, So rotation and design apply spacing with Asian
and non-Asian test option for Korean users is very short time. And this only shows these links. And CJKV issues track the meta issues about these links in traditional Chinese
and simplified Chinese, and Japanese, and Korean. Hunter is in the Korean name referring to Chinese characters ideographs. But many of Korean fonts do not have certain ideographs.
Example is the picture. Social distance poster and first is English and the second is Chinese and the last is Japanese. But font graphics are very weird because in Korean,
have no help with this. And this is example of this. And this is, yeah.
Some countries form same color, same code points, not different. Yeah, vertical writing. This is example of vertical writing from top to bottom and right to left. And this is example. This is my photo and also this is my photo and this.
And standard is this link. And I found the photo in vertical writing. And the classical right, Hangul and Jeju location also. After PDF composition, the original word,
this changed the wrong word, this. So I saw it with Voguezilla. And also example of different photos. And also Korean test layout character have no space between characters by default.
This is the reference and bottom is MS Office. MS Office is correct and the reference is wrong. And this is example. HLP and MS Office and reference. This is wrong.
Also North Korea Office Suite Seogang is based on reference. This is the red service. And red service, North Korea's news distribution and include based on Seogang summary. I found this.
And in this year, I read the article and North Korea IT News and the use of OS product data, Seogang Office can be added to MS Word. This is example of this. And this and shows they use this and ODF file format.
And this is example. And future work is here and spread the developers improve developers features for Korean, promote ODF and activating developers Korean community and promote North Korea and South Korea.
Thanks. Sorry. Sorry.
Sorry.
