The computer simulation shows the evolution of structure within a void. The simulated volume contains no bright galaxies such as the Milky Way and therefore would observationally appear to be empty. Until today the distribution of matter in these voids has not been measured. Computer simulations have shown that voids also contain small filaments and knots, where objects of the mass of dwarf galaxies or smaller are situated.
