Zu Beginn der Fortpflanzung wird die Blasenkapsel eingeschmolzen, und es werden Stacheln und Septen reduziert. Die Foraminiferen sinken dabei bis auf ca. 200 m Tiefe, wo die Isogameten aus dem Kalkgehäuse quellen.
