The film, consisting of ten distinct sequences, shows the process of wear occurring on the flank of high speed steel, K20-carbide and ceramic metal oxide cutting edges after edge moulding and rabbetting chipboards and laminated chipboard panels. The sequences permit the different wear phenomena to be observed as they occur in conjunction with a variety of cutting angles and different combinations of materials of the cutting edge and work materials. A constant feed rate enables the viewer to observe the process of wear at the cutting edge, the growth of a wear land and the build-up of wood particles on the flank under various cutting conditions.
