In his lecture held on December 21, 2005 at the Lichtenberg auditorium of the faculty of physics of Göttingen University Paul Crutzen talks about the results of atmospheric chemistry in the discovery of the ozone hole and his own contribution to this academic discipline. He describes the development and the state of the art concerning the antarctic ozone hole und discusses chemical mechanisms in the stratosphere as well as future scenarios.
