Abstract
In modern trucks the axle is generally steered by lengthwise positioned leaf springs. A model is used to display the different loads absorbed and transferred by this kind of spring. In order to reduce the structural weight, especially of unsprung masses, efforts are nowadays being made to replace the relatively heavy steel springs with light glass-fibre reinforced plastic springs.
