English | English Rawitscher's film about twining plants shows conclusively in twining plants, which have a constant direction of coiling, that unimpeded circular motion occurs without twisting. This is demonstrated by direct registration with india ink. In this way a convincing picture of the characteristic circumnutation is given both in free-coiling and in coiling around a support. The film, however, also confirms that the well-known geo-, photo- and autotrophic reactions - when combined with circumnutation - suffice to bring about an orderly entwining of a suitable support. |
