The film shows the form differentiation of the chloroplast which takes place during the cell development of Micrasterias denticulata Bréb. It is shown that an initially vagiform chloroplast mass flattens off and from this linguiform projections (peaks) form which find a contact in the peripheral protoplasma. The chloroplast peaks move along the cell wall in the cortical protoplasma and are finally anchored within the area of lobe recesses. Apparently the chloroplast is anchored at specific points of the cell periphery by chloroplast linguae such as these, and receives thereby its characteristic shape. No further statement can be made as yet with regard to the mechanism of movement and anchoring of the fine peak ends.
