The diffraction of a shock wave, with a shock Mach number MS = 1,5, on a wedge-shaped obstacle with a slope of 45° is demonstrated. The primary pictures were made in a shock tube using a 24-frame Cranz-Schardin camera. Several series of 24 pictures, with each series taken at a different time, were made into a film in order to give the impression of a continuous sequence. By copying each pictures several times, the sequences is slowed down so that details of the diffraction process can be observed.
