Abstract Scheinkonturen (subjektive, kognitive Konturen) werden entweder als außerordentliche Fälle von Figur-Grund-Organisation oder als Wirkungen bildlicher Tiefenreize angesehen. Sie sind keine primären Kontrasteffekte, werden jedoch, wie objektive Konturen auch, nur unter der Bedingung eines Helligkeitsgefälles zwischen Figur und Grund deutlich sichtbar. Unter Kontrast- wie Isoluminanzbedingung werden gezeigt: Heckhausen-Muster, Kanisza-Dreiecke, subjektiver Neckerscher Würfel, Brunswik-Buchstaben. (Vgl. Gregory 1972.)
Subjective contours (cognitive contours) are either interpreted as extraordinary cases of figure-ground-organisation or as effects of visual depth stimuli. They are no primary contrast effects, yet become clearly visible - like objective contours - only under the condition of a brightness contrast between figure and ground. Under the conditions of contrast and isoluminance the film shows: Heckhausen pattern, Kanisza triangles, subjective Necker's cube, Brunswik letters. (see Gregory 1972).
