The Spanish Way of St. James has almost 1000 years of tradition and its historical development reflects an important chapter in European history. In the footsteps of today's pilgrims, the film documents individual sections and stations, shows medieval churches, bridges and hospitals. In numerous interviews, it asks about the current design and maintenance of the route as well as the importance for the pilgrims. Priests, hoteliers, hostel parents, officials and high dignitaries comment on their activities to maintain and renew its infrastructure. Some historical recordings document the tradition and change of this path, which is a World Heritage Site.
