Three-spined Stickleback: nest-building; zigzag dance; fanning the nest; partial following of a female; short mouth fights; the female swimming into the nest; spawning with butting of the male against the tail of the female; fertilization of the eggs in the nest following departure of the female. Mock-up tests show that the bumping of the male against the female's tail base is essential for spawning.
