The film demonstrates 12 species of thecamoebae representing nine genera, which belong to eight families: Arcella vulgaris var. multinucleata, Arcella dentata, Centropyxis aculeata, Difflugia corona, Difflugia tuberculata, Nebela collaris, Euglypha strigosa, Hyalosphenia elegans, Hyalosphenia papilio, Amphitrema flavum, Chlamydophrys minor and Liberkühnia wageneri. Form and structure of the theca, the polar stratification of the protoplast, the activity of contractile vacuoles, and the locomotion by means of pseudopodia can be seen. Three cases of cyst germination are also shown.
