The life cycle, morphology and vegetative propagation of Actinaria is shown using Haliplanella lineata and Aiptasia diaphana as examples. Some species like Calliactis parasitica and Adamsia palliata live commensally. Zoantharia of Parazoanthus axinellae and Epizoanthus aranaeus are shown with formation of colony and skeleton. Ceriantharia lives on soft ground. Morphological features of the subclass Octocorallia e.g. polymorphism, are shown using members of the Pennatularia (Veretillum cynomodium, Pteroides spec.), the Alcyonaria (Alcyonium palmatum, Sarcophyton spec.) and the Gorgonaria (Corallium rubrum, Eunicella stricta und Paramuricea chameleon).
