Abstract Springfrosch. Männchen tauchen am Abend vom Grund der Gewässer auf (Februar, Nordgriechenland) und rufen (Paarungsrufe). Weibchen wandern aus der Umgebung zu, lassen sich klammern, laichen noch in derselben Nacht ab und verlassen das Gewässer wieder. Die Laichballen werden unter Wasser an Pflanzen angeheftet. Klammern sich Männchen gegenseitig, sind Abwehrrufe zu hören.
The first shots taken in Northern Greece introduce the species' typical spawing waters. Further shots taken show individual organisms and selection of their physical characteristics. The main section of the film deals with the behaviour of males at the beginning of the evening calling session and during the mating call. Male frogs call either above the surface and then dive under water for the duration of the call. Details on the species' reproductive behaviour are conveyed in sequences of a female looking for a mating partner, mating pairs in amplexus and spawning pair.
