English | English The film shows how chippings are formed during orthogonal cutting from a polished and etched testing workpiece made of casehardening steel 16MnCr5. The individual areas and stages of flowing chip formation are worth watching well in this markedly ferrito-perlitic structure. As the chip thickness increases, the formation of flowing chip becomes more regular, that is, the shearing deformation, chipping-structure and chipping-profile are clearer and more even. The variation in thickness of the chippings also affects the formation of pick-up on the cutting edge. |
