The film shows the machining process during the turning of black malleable iron GTS-35 with carbide tipped tools. The work sample was machined longitudinally and vertically under normal v 60 conditions, and the process was filmed both at normal speed and under magnification in slow-motion. The cuttings of this cast material may be regarded as a typical example of the formation of shear cuttings.
