At normal speed and in slow motion the film shows mice being caught by juvenile and adult puff adders by poisonous bites. Immediately after biting them, the snakes grasp the small prey until they gulp them down. Larger mice are let loose by young vipers straight after the bite. The puff adders then follow their tracks by the sense of smell. When the prey partly swallowed is too large, it is choked up again. The film goes on to show how a juvenile and an adult puff adder gobble up their prey.
