For the first time is shown in a film the discoidal embryonic development of a cephalopod in time controlled quick motion and normal motion pictures. The second part of the film shows the behaviour of the youngsters up to an age of about two months, it does not differ much from that of the adults - exept the lack of sexual behaviour. There are only differences concerning two signals: The frontal threatening gesture is shown by the hatchling and for the first few weeks almost steadily and youngsters joined in groups show permanently the red brown group dress with the signal spot.
