A captive family of meerkats at the Brookfield Zoo (Chicago) is the subject of this film. It consists of an adult male and female, the parents of the other animals seen; a young adult female born 6 months earlier, and a litter of 3 males and 1 female (with dye marking on one foreleg). The film begins when the youngsters are 3 weeks old, and samples the development of play within the family during the next 2 months.
