English | English The early stages of the ontogenetic development of the Lymnaea stagnalis are depicted in sections, beginning with copulation and egg deposition. The following stages of development are shown at varying degrees of enlargement and in some cases using time-lapse technique: polar body formation, cleavage, development up to the gastrula stage (begin of rotation), blastopore with stomadaeum, praeveliger stage in rotation, approx. 6 days old embryo leaving the egg membrane and the heartbeat of the hatched animal. This is followed by pictures of the activity of the radula of a young snail and its feeding on fully-grown animals. The feeding marks left on a sheet of algae are also shown. |
