Catching of prey and food-intake among the suctorian Tokophrya lemnarum, Acineta tuberosa, Ephelota gemmipara, Acinetopsis rara, and Dendrocometes paradoxus. Whereas most suctorian have tentacles which serve both for catching of prey and food-intake, various, differentiated catching and sucking tentacles occur among Ephelota gemmipara. Acinetopsis rara forms a long catching tentacle with which it pulls the cell bodies of Ephelota gemmipara down from its stalk. The tentacles of Dendrocometes paradoxus are very aberrantly formed.
