In Drakenburg (Nienburg) überspannt eine Wehrbrücke die Weser. Die Stahl- und Spannbetonbrücke wies gravierende Mängel auf, die einen Abriß und Neubau erforderten. Im Rahmen des Forschungsprojektes EXTRA II bot sich die einmalige Gelegenheit, anhand der beim Abbruch ausgebauten Brückenteile grundlegende Forschungen über Tragsicherheit und Gebrauchstauglichkeit von Brücken vorzunehmen, und zwar erstmalig ohne Rücksicht auf eine weitere Nutzung bis zum Bruch. Die Dokumentation beschreibt den Abriß der Brücke, den Transport der Ausbauteile auf der Weser bis nach Bremen zum Testplatz auf dem ehemaligen Werftgelände der AG-Weser und die sich anschließenden mannigfaltigen Testläufe an den Brückenteilen.

A service platform of a weir spans the Weser River in Drakenburg (Nienburg). The steel and reinforced concrete bridge had severe deficiencies, which required demolition and rebuilding. This was a unique opportunity to conduct basic research on the load-bearing safety and the fitness-for-use of bridges using the dismounted bridge parts in the scope of the EXTRA II research project. For the first time it would be possible to conduct such a study without having to allow for further use until demolition. The documentation describes the demolition of the bridge, the transport of the demounted parts on the Weser River to Bremen to the testing site on the former shipyard property of the AG Weser and the subsequent multitudinous test runs performed on the bridge parts.
