Abstract Animated film documenting the opening process: the buds opens, as in other deciduous trees and bushes, by intercalulary growth of the medial and apical blades as well as simultaneous elongation of the young stem in the bud interior. The opened leaf layers increase by planar growth. Their nature reveals bud blades to be secondary leaves.
