Corynebacterium mirabile was isolated from the genitary tract of human males. They are rod shaped bacteria which are facultatively anaerobic. On protein-free media only rods are formed associated with a minimum amount of formed products. Film E 1116 covers the formation of myelin figures and round crystals of cholesterol esters which develop when the culture medium is supplemented with lipoproteins. Myelin figures still continue to form when the organisms have already been inactivated by heat.
