First, some morphological aspects of Epiphanes senta are shown as an introduction to the organization of rotifers. The different adaptions to life in the open-water zone of ponds and lakes are demonstrated by representatives of the genus Brachionus, Filinia, Asplanchna and Conochilus. Then some creeping forms are shown: Squatinella, Adineta, Philodina. The latter, too, serves as an example for the ability to survive in a desiccated form (anabiosis), which is an adaption of some rotifers to extreme habitats. After this a species of Floscularia and Collotheca are demonstrated as examples of different modes of sessile life. Finally some host-dependent forms (Seison annulatus, Rotifer roeperi, Hertwigella volvocicola) are shown.
