Die Lebensweise, Morphologie und vegetative Fortpflanzung von Actinaria wird am Beispiel von Haliplanella lineata und Aiptasia diaphana gezeigt. Einige Arten wie z. B. Calliactis parasitica und Adamsia palliata leben mit Einsiedlerkrebsen zusammen. An den Arten Parazoanthus axinellae und Epizoanthus aranaeus werden die Zoantharia mit ihrer Kolonie- und Skelettbildung vorgestellt. Ceriantharia leben auf Weichböden. Die morphologischen Besonderheiten der Unterklasse Octocorallia, wie spezielle Skelettbildung, Kolonieformen oder Polymorphismus, werden an Vertretern der Pennatularia (Veretillum cynomodium, Pteroides spec.), der Alcyonaria (Alcyonium palmatum, Sarcophyton spec.) und der Gorgonaria (Corallium rubrum, Eunicella stricta und Paramuricea chamäleon) gezeigt.
