The film shows the behaviour of the Red Deer stag in rutting fights during the mating season. Showing-off and threat ceremonies with the parallel walk before the fight, the clashing of antlers, the fighting technique by frontal pushing and by circling of the rivals around each other, the chasing of the subordinate rival by the winner after the fight, and symbolic encounters during the rut are demonstrated.
