Archiving and publishing research data
This video series from Leipzig University Library introduces six key topics in research data management (RDM). The videos can be used flexibly according to a modular principle: individually, in custom combinations, or as a sequential learning pathway, depending on requirements. They cover interdisciplinary and long-term aspects of RDM. Each topic addresses typical scenarios or challenges encountered in research practice and conveys key content, recommendations for action and tips in an accessible manner, using illustrative elements and animations. The final topic, comprising seven videos, explains why research data should be archived and how archiving differs from publication. The videos present different approaches to data publication, such as article supplements, repositories and data journals, as well as three types of repository and selection criteria. They also examine persistent identifiers, appropriate licences and requirements for long-term accessibility.
