The Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) is one of the largest, most diverse and most traditional artistic universities in the world. Approximately one third of the approximately 4,000 students are international. The range of courses offered at the faculties of Fine Arts, Design, Music and Performing Arts as well as at the Berlin Career College, the Jazz Institute Berlin and the Inter-University Centre for Dance encompasses the entire spectrum of the arts and related academic courses in more than 70 degree programmes. With the right to award doctorates and habilitations, the UdK Berlin is also one of the few art colleges in Germany with full university status. In addition, art, music and theatre are trained for the teaching profession. The UdK Berlin employs around 220 artistic and academic professors and around 250 academic and artistic staff. They create a wide variety of artistic, creative and scientific works.
