Abstract
When mountain permafrost thaws, rock glaciers release meltwater, contributing to the overall hydrological system of a region. This video shows water flow from a rock glacier from mountain permafrost in the Ny-Ålesund region, Svalbard Arctic acquired on 17 September 2024. Especially in harsh mountain environments in the Arctic, these direct observations are rare but critical for understanding permafrost dynamics, water resource availability, and the potential impacts of climate change on Arctic ecosystems.
