Abstract
OpenStreetMap is a platform designed and built for its community, everyone has the ability to propose data structures, update map data, and add new information into the dynamic database. With OpenStreetMap having just over five million users, the speed at which its map updates is rapid and incessant. While OSM history provides a good comparison of individual objects in the OpenStreetMap database, large scale changes are hard to observe with the available editing technologies and support. Hence, Chameleon, a tag comparison tool, was developed over the past year in an attempt to capture these changes and provide users with a quick look at how the OpenStreetMap data has changed. In this session, we will explore the development history, software capabilities, and the future of this OpenStreetMap companion that can help you understand your changing neighborhood.
