The Humboldt University Berlin was chosen as one of eleven universities in Germany to hold the title "University of Excellence" in July 2019. The German excellence initiative aims to promote cutting-edge research and to create outstanding conditions for young scholars at universities, to deepen cooperation between disciplines and institutions, to strengthen international cooperation of research, and to enhance the international appeal of excellent German universities. The Excellence website of the Humboldt University Berlin was developed by kitconcept in mid-2019 with Volto, the new React-based frontend for Plone. Volto will become the new default frontend for Plone 6. This talk will outline the challenges we faced and the solutions we found when developing a cutting edge website for one of the largest and most renowned universities in Germany.
