Abstract
Cells engineered to express lytABC from PtapA (differentially activated in "sessile" cells) were exposed to NaCl. “Motile” cells express YFP and are false colored in magenta. “Sessile” cells express CFP and are false colored in cyan. Cells are immobilized on a Tris agarose pad. Upon exposure to NaCl “motile” cells lyse. Movie shows superimposed brightfield and fluorescence micrographs before adding NaCl, followed by brightfield images only for the duration of lysis.
