Abstract
Jay van Schyndel discusses data storage in use (or in development) at James Cook Universtiy to support the management of data in the course of research. Providing secured, trusted and reliable access to data storage during the course of research is of critical importance to minimizing risks associated with unauthorized access, accidental loss, and the protection of personal and sensitive data. Yet at the same time, research is becoming more international with research teams and collaborators spread across many institutions and geographic locations around the world. There are clear needs for researchers and collaborators to access working data remotely in the field and from different countries.
