English | English Fight between two males: The two fish swim towards each other, with their fins erect. Then one of them makes a swift trembling movement with its tail in front of the rival's head. They then bite each other's flanks repeatedly. The bitten fish has a characteristic colouring on the head. As soon as it, in turn, starts biting its rival, this colouring disappears in two or three seconds, while it appears on the fish which is being bitten. A few brief mouth fights may also be observed. This kind of intraterritorial fight, highly ritualized, often lasts for some dozens of minutes, always at the bottom of the aquarium. Fight between two females: It is practically identical to the fight between males. However, it is generally shorter and more confused. |
