Buntbarsch. Das Männchen balzt mit charakteristischen Einladungsbewegungen. Beide Fische führen Maulschnappbewegungen in der Nähe der Geschlechtspapille des Partners aus. Das Weibchen stößt eine Anzahl Eier aus, die es ins Maul nimmt; darauf führt es wieder einige Schnappbewegungen in Höhe der Geschlechtspapille oder der Afterflosse des Männchens aus.

The male, placed near the female, makes a display with the typical inviting movement. The two fish meet then in the laying basin where they alternately make snapping movements of the month towards the genital papilla of their male. A few movements later, the female lays one, then another series of ovules, which she then takes in her mouth; she then makes a few more snapping movements towards the genital papilla or the anal fin of the male, before the latter turns her away.
