Flachs wird mit Maschinen und von Hand geerntet und verarbeitet. Anschließend spinnt eine alte Frau auf dem Spinnrad zuerst Leinengarn, dann zwirnt sie zwei Leinenfäden zu einer Schnur zusammen.

In the little village of Hodov the flax harvest has begun. While the men operate the harvesting machines, on impassable places the women draw out the flax by hand. Filipka Bednárová, a woman who lives in one of the cottages in the village, ripples the flax with an iron comb, in order to remove the flax seeds. She drys the bundle of flax in the oven pipe so that she can process it on the breaker and the hackle. Then from the pure, fine flax, she spins linen yarn using a spinning wheel. Finally, with the same spinning wheel, she twists the yarn into thread.
