From this, four or eight spermatogoni with shells emerge, enclosed in the mother cell. These enter into meiosis as spermatocytes. Since there is no cytocinesis, thw two meiotic divisions yield spermatocytes with four nuclei. Sperms with one flagellum and without plastides are formed.
