| English | English The smith's workshop is situated in the shade of a tree right next to the nomade camp of the Tubu. From his supply the smith chooses a suitable piece of iron, heats it in the stack and through lengthening, widening and compressing produces the middle part of the hatchet blade. The protruding parts are trimmed off. The spike and then the blade are wrought. From a nearby tree the smith hews off a branch and out of this carbes the shaft. The hole for the spike fitting is burnt into the blade. To conclude the smith sharpens and hardens the blade and fits it into the shaft-hole. |
