From different angles the film shows how a parent feeds small fish to very young little terns not yet out of their nest. The whole fish is held in the beak in front of the young bird - "offered" to it -, upon which the latter seizes it and immediately begins to swallow it. Failures are repeatedly corrected by the parent bird, which attentively watches the efforts of the young.
