| English | English Fights between male Bitis arietans during the breeding season. One snake on top of another creeps towards the other's head in short, jerky movements. The snake underneath raises the front part of its body slowly and then suddenly strikes backwards with it very quickly. The rival, which is creeping up in more or less tight coils, is squeezed tightly at particular parts of its body and often thrown off by this movement. A short time later the two puff adders take up contact again and the proceedings described above begin anew. |
