Beginning with his memories of childhood, Otto Koenig talks about his scientific career. His wife Lilli as well as his students and colleagues supplement the portrait of Konrad Lorenz' disciple, who, in 1945, founded the "Biologische Station Wilhelminenberg", where research on behaviour, culture and environment was carried out. Koenig explains his concept of cultural ethology and allows many glances at his work, including several research departments of his Institute for Applied Eco-Ethology, instances of his work in scientific film and TV, his collections and the intensive cooperation with his wife. Otto Koenig died in December 1992 aged 78.
