Blätter von Klee und Wegerich werden vom Hamster abgebissen, zerkleinert und teils mit Hilfe der Vorderpfoten in die Backen gestopft. Im Bau drücken die Hamster mit den Pfoten außen gegen die Backentaschen und streifen so den Inhalt heraus.

Common hamsters bite of the leaves of clover and plantain, shred them and taken into their cheeks. Back in the burrow the hamsters press with their front paws against their cheek pouches to strip out the food.
