English | English In the courtyard of her homestead a woman prepares the daily meal for her five-headed family, millet porridge with a sauce. She first grinds millet, puts a pot water on the fire, mixes the millet flour in the boiling water and stirs the porridge carefully with a twirling-stick. In a smaller pot she then prepares a sauce of different fruits, stirs it, adds salt, and removes the uneatable stones of the fruits. She then portions out the porridge and the sauce in different half gourds for the children, her husband, and herself. The two elder children begin immediately to eat, the other bowls are put aside for the present on a store-rack. |
