Abstract
Pratichhya Sharma is a Remote sensing data engineer from VITO. Her research focuses on efficient remote sensing data analysis using cloud-based solutions such as openEO. Her primary responsibilities involve bridging the gap between technological advancements in remote sensing and their practical usability for the scientific and user communities. She achieves this by developing and supporting new application cases using remote sensing data with open-source technologies. In this interview, Pratichhya discusses how cloud-based platforms like openEO are transforming the way researchers and developers access and analyze Earth Observation data. She explains the value of User-Defined Functions (UDFs) for creating customized workflows, shares examples of advanced EO analyses enabled by these tools, and highlights how her work at VITO contributes to making Earth Observation data more accessible, FAIR, and reusable for the global scientific community.
