Abstract
Late 2017 during my studies in France, I was fascinated by how easy it was to get transit information, and how it made travelling through the city enjoyable. Months later, I was back in Tunisia and found absolutely nothing similar. The idea of building a transit app started knocking around my head. At that time, there was no easily available data. In this talk, I will share with you the story of how I was able to get in touch with the companies that had the data I needed, establish some rudimentary collaboration and produce a workable web app. Even though it only had three users, I still learned a lot, whether on human or technical aspects. The takeaways are the stereotypical fact that when you put your mind to something you can usually accomplish it, and that unfortunately if you build it they won’t necessarily come.
