The Helmholtz Association is Germany's biggest scientific organization including 18 research centers and over 40.000 employees. To digitally connect every employee even though they work in different places with different infrastructures HIFIS (Helmholtz Federated IT Services) has been brought to life. HIFIS brings powerful IT infrastructure and Services to all research centers. To assemble a wide cluster of IT Services, they asked for help to allow Helmholtz members to register their services in the HIFIS Cloud. In collaboration with HZB (Helmholtz Center Berlin) and kitconcept, Plone was chosen to fill that gap and to create a platform that allows users to register those Services. This also was the perfect opportunity to share knowledge on how Plone and Volto works, how we can customize it to our needs, and encourage the growth of HIFIS. In an agile process, the forged collaboration then implemented the Form that was needed for the registration process, an AAI to allow easier logins, validation, and workflows that simplify the process for everyone. |
