At Technical University of Dresden we developed an open source chat package for Plone as part of our website infrastructure. It is used by multiple institutions of the university, for example our Central Student Information and Counselling Service, to enhance our service communication capabilities. Different chat sessions are scheduled for different topics depending on the target audience. They are moderated, can be public or private and support familiar moderation functionality. In this talk, we will introduce our use case, discuss the overall architecture and employed technologies (AJAX Requests, MySQL, Beaker, Robot Tests) and give a short demonstration of the final product.
