Abstract
This video demonstrates the key steps of a micellar route for the preparation of metal nanoparticles with variable size and interparticle distance. The experiment is carried out in the cleanroom facility of the Faculty of Natural Science by the co-workers of Dr. Alfred Plettl and Prof. Paul Ziemann of the Institute of Solid State Physics at the University of Ulm. The nanoparticles are then used as an etching mask for the reactive ion etching of nanopillars in silica on a silicon substrate. Superhydrophobic substrates with macroscopic dimensions are produced by plasma coating with a very thin film of CF. The wetting behavior of these samples can be studied by varying the geometrical parameters over a broad range. The chemophysical route employed for preparation and characterization of magnetic nanoparticles is presented in a further video.
